Mobile Tool Lending Library for Community Use

Implementing in 2023–24 as a Solidarity Project, funded by European Solidarity Corps (2022-3-EL02-ESC30-SOL-000100078).

With this project we are moving from stationary working places and methods to more flexible, pop-up, mobile ones. We would like to reach groups at their bases, their own places, to ask for their needs and help them cover them in a collective way. Under names such as ‘tactical urbanism’, ‘pop-up urbanism’, ‘city repair’ or ‘D.I.Y. urbanism’, ‘Short-terms Actions’ for ‘Long-term Change’, this kind of actions offer an approach to space-making based on the development of social capital between citizens. By operating a ‘Mobile Tool Lending Library’ we wish to establish an active support-network for groups of makers and promote a culture of sharing (tools, skills, materials and spaces) in our communities.

The project is divided into two major phases running through the whole process:

1. Design & Construction of a ‘Mobile Tool Lending Library’: mobile-modular pieces that can transport our tools and materials

2. Operation of our ‘Mobile Tool Lending Library’: Tool Library travels around supporting the realization of all community projects selected.
